At the end of the 2017 summer months I had the pleasure to work with an incredible logo designer named Samantha Pearson! My partner in crime, Mr. Martinho, just happened to ask her if she would be willing to create our brand and logo and 3 days later, BOOM. An incredible design was crafted and presented to us.  Samantha took all of our ideas into account and swirled them in a creative blender and birthed our brand new baby.

Me: “So Samantha, when did you start creating logos and branding?”

Samantha: “About a year ago.”

Me: “Have you had any formal training?”

Samantha: “No, I’m pretty much self taught.”

Me: “Do you create art in other mediums too?”

Samantha: “I don’t. Actually I don’t think I’ve hand drawn anything in over 10 years now.”

Me: “Wowsers! I love digital art…how many logos do you think you have made so far?”

Samantha: “Basically I’ve found that with the unorthodox method I use to create stuff, the computer is by far the best tool for the job. I’ve made around 20-30 logos so far.”

Me: “That is killer! So happy you created the logo and branding for our group. What kind of tools do you use?”

Samantha: “Adobe Illustrator is my weapon of choice for logos, and I use Photoshop for stuff like mock ups and banners.”

Samantha: “Social media banners I mean.”

Me: “Those are both outstanding programs. So just a mouse then or do you have a fancy wacom tablet?”

Samantha: “I have a wacom tablet I haven’t touched in years, and I actually don’t use a mouse. All my work is done using a laptop and a touchpad.”

Me: “No kidding? You are like a touchpad goddess! What other hobbies do you enjoy?”

Samantha: “Lol thanks. I usually spend my spare time playing video games, or learning new skills (I’m currently learning web design).”

Me: “Oh sweet! Web design is really fun. So are you learning straight up .html or using a program of sorts?”

Samantha: “Straight up HTML. I use a free fancy word processor called Atom that color codes stuff.”

Me: “I will have to check that out for sure. You mentioned gaming…Tabletop or computer games?”

Samantha: “Computer games. World of Warcraft would be my current game of choice, but I also play a bit of League of Legends and Hearthstone (and yes, all on a touchpad, lol).”

Me: “This is one incredible touchpad. So…Alien or Human?”

Samantha: “It sure is! Probably Alien, but if the Twilight Zone has taught me anything, don’t trust their cookbooks.”

Me: “Hahaha, no kidding! Meat or veggies?”

Samantha: “Meat, preferably with a side of meat.”

Me: “If I wanted to find your work and hire you Samantha, how would I go about that?”

Samantha: “You can either contact me directly through my facebook page(Facebook.com/IAmSamALamb), or send a form in through my website (SamALamb.com). I try my best to reply to all messages as soon as possible.”

Me: “Oh sweet! I have to go check out your website here in a few seconds. Do you have any advice for people looking to get into logo design, branding and vector art?”

Samantha: “When designing a logo, always keep in mind how well it will work at different sizes, and in different colors. Go for timeless, not trendy, unique, not generic.”

Samantha: “For branding make sure you keep everything uniform. What I mean by this is use the same name for all your social media, and the same color scheme/typography across all platforms. You want to use a name that is easy to remember and spell, and sticks in people’s heads.”

Samantha: “Oh and always use the right tool for the job. Logos should be made in a vector program, and not photoshop for instance. Follow industry standards so you don’t run into any issues down the road.”

Me: “That is great advice Samantha!”

Me: “Well, thank you so much for taking time to answers these questions. Do you mind if I put some of your logo designs on this interview?”

Samantha: “That would be completely fine!”

I want to give a huge shout out to Samantha for taking a moment of her time to answer some questions and also for designing our logo and brand for our site! I can’t wait to see what other projects are in the works for her.  If you are looking for a talented and creative logo designer that works quick and efficiently and takes into account your ideas and needs, I would highly suggest you contact her.
